Shorter Stories I've Written!
"The End of the World"
I wish the end of the world was loud.
Something to see; a noticeable descent.
A roaring wave, or a rising sun,
I can understand, to an extent.
A nuclear warhead, or a looming meteor.
Omnipotent warfare; Omniscient fanfare.
A crash, bang or boom to let the people know
And to give us the time we needed to prepare.
Yet none of those things killed us,
At least, none killed me.
And whatever took all of us out
Happened too fast to ever see.
I can't change it now, nor could I ever.
Because the end is always inevitable,
To fight with the concept is futile,
And I find fear in death to be futile.
I still do wish it was loud,
An impossible, improbable feat,
Because now the silence kills me
more than the world's defeat.
